Thrift Haul

Hello all!
=) Not really. There isn’t an all, as of yet. But that’s a-ok. I am not going to lie and say that I’m not here in hopes of gaining readers and becoming part of a great community of bloggers. I absolutely am. However, I recognize fully that it’s going to be relatively hard for me to get my feet planted on the ground and establish this blog as something worth reading.

I don’t know if my “vision” needs to be spelled out, and honestly, it’s nearly impossible to do. Because outside of my head, it sounds chaotic. For me, however, all of the individual details involved with where my plans are taking this blog are very closely related to one another.  My hope is that with a lot of hard work and dedication, they will not just be related, but interwoven, though my posts – and will ultimately become one lovely picture. A lovely, thrifted picture. Like velvet Jesus.

I am not hitting the ground running. I’m taking things slowly and continuing to do research, as well as trying to feel my way around the blogging community. I’ve been creating lasting friendships online for years, but as mediums change, it becomes a little foreign to me. Sure enough, I’m finding little pockets of wonderful people who have carved communities and forged friendships across the web. It’s so promising! It’s so…overwhelming! =D Challenge accepted!

The “easiest” thing I have in store for this blog is thrift haul posts. Hey, this is what I do. Dating back to thriftwhore on good ol’ livejournal, showing off muh haul is no new thrill. That said, I never put much effort into improving my product photography and self-portrait skillz, so I’m going to be working on that!

I, like so many others, am completely taken by the mint and peach trend. Particularly when paired with any member of the taupe family. I can’t get enough!

omg, this blazer. THIS BLAZER. I saw it the night before it went 50% off and you bet I was standing outside the doors at 9am to get it.

Which led to me browsing the store for 2 hours and buying way too many things. Including that teeny makeup bag illogically pretending to by my mouthpart. Yes, my hair is messy.

See that mug? Yea. That mug is empty. Faker. Also, did I mention that my minty blazer is BRAND NEW? Swoon.

BUFFALO TOY. And dust. Apparently, I need to tickle that windowsill with some feathers.

There is something about wrist-thingies that make me actually believe the lie that I am a grown-up. When I look down and see my adorned wristacles, I feel put together. I'm not, but I can pretend. Though I can't actually tell the time, as these are all dead, so my next trip to the store will involve watch batteries. Obviously, I'm not actually going to sport all of these at once. I'm not that cool.

The mugs are rad. raw ceramic on the bottom, peach glaze up top. Oh yea. This is happening. One of these days I'll have to take my camera in to the Mug Cabinet of Wonders.

these are just rad. the shape and colors made them irresistible to me.

Everyone and their mother, and my mother, collects pyrex. It's just hard enough to find that it's a thrill every time, it's rarely expensive, it always pretty...and most of all, it's so useful. I have this dish in another pattern, but this barbed wire pattern was super exciting to find!

um, AWESOME? I honestly don't know if I want to attempt to sell this, or keep and use it. The only bummer is that it's missing a knife and the pepper shaker.

I should probably acknowledge right here and now that I have a problem with woodland creatures. I love them, and want to give them all a nice home.

There were more treasures, but some will be featured on other days, in other ways. For now, I'm linking up over at a living space and the honeysuckle busstop!

  2. Woo hoo! I feel like celebrating my discovery of you & your blog. (via the honeysuckle/moonshine link up)
I relate to nearly every word. I've been blogging for 7+ years.. I kind of wrote about that here: http://ourfunwithfive.blogspot.com/2013/03/an-inspiring-suprise.html

Love the buffalo pull toy. Nice work on the selfies. And yeah - woodland critters.. I hear you. Speaking of those - I found a velvet elk while thrifting a few months ago.. so I'm off to follow the link to the "velvet jesus" mentioned.
I'm going to follow you also, so that I can look forward to follow along!

    1. Yay! I'm so glad you found me! I love the way you write/that post! It has a really lovely rhythm, it feels peaceful.

I found a velvet stag a couple of weeks ago! I am pretty sure he is a toy, but now he's home to some pretties. You can see him hanging out in the background here https://img3.etsystatic.com/014/1/7970730/il_570xN.447196971_2pf3.jpg =) Fits right in!
